For a moment, this dog believed that he got very nice piece of meat when he caught that little squirrel baby.
But, suddenly, something jumped on him and took it’s attention while little squirrel managed to escape.
Heroic squirrel mother acted very brave in this situation and saved her baby’s life by an heroic act that deserves lot of respect. Some people could learn a lot of from this squirrel.
In other news…dog brags about the one that got away.

If you notice – the dog in this picture is a Labrador Retriever, which don’t kill, as a breed. The squirrel got away because it is not in this dog’s nature to kill… wait for it… the breed retrieves the prey that its master hunts & kills.
Those would have made a nice hat.
@r: the dog may not kill the squirrel, but the squirrels do not know that, hence the “heroic act” by the mother squirrel.

My Husky would have eaten both of them, then came home and dug a freaking hole in my lawn!
Either way both squirrel and dog is good in stew.
Even squirrels have critics apparently.
Whether the dog was planning on bringing it to its master, playing with it, or sharing a cup of tea with it, there would definitely be some sort of injury to the baby squirrel. regardless, that momma Pwned that DOGS FACE. : )
Looking at the first photo, I’d say that the dog was protecting the baby until that insane woman attacked him for no good reason.

The dog (who is not a lab, BTW; labs don’t have curly tails; but probably is a lab mix), was in a play posture at the beginning–he wanted the squirrel to play with him. Great sequence of shots. That momma squirrel was so brave!
Anthropomorphizing animals and attributing concepts like bravery to them unfair to nature. The squirrel’s reaction was a natural response. Like me pooping while posting this.
